Question for the professionals.Sometimes heard on the airband, an aircraft in the descent to a centrefix to rwy xx at an airport.Just wondered what is meant by a centrefix.Thanks ladies/gents.

Not my area but I believe the centrefix is at some point on the ILS where the aircraft routes to before turning final. Like I said its not my area, so I could be wrong :)
I have noticed that it often the same point as the FAF for an ILS. Though typically it appears nowhere on the charts...

Its a term used when aircraft are self positioning using the Flight Management Computer (FMC) to a position notionally around 8 miles out on the runway centerline......The distance can vary depending on operators approach criteria etc
