Actually more serious than my title.

Took leave beginning of May for family holiday. During said trip, started having feelings of dizzeness. Narrowed it down to when ever I turn my head to the right and my eyes full to the right, after a few seconds I get a dizzy sensation and a ringing in my eyes. If I keep my eyes and head that way, it usually clears after 30 seconds. I have not lost my balance or fallen over. Have had blood tests and brain CT scan and it has come back fine.

Will find out where to go next week. It could be inner ear related or wait for it...stress! Have extended my leave as I don't want the employer to know and want to get it sorted. Plus a duty of care. Although it maybe curtains for career?

Any or you learned types have any ideas? It's a bit of a worry to say the least.

Have a wife (holds a ppl) afflicted with something very similar. Been to Doctors in 3 cities on 2 different continents, completed a barrage of tests and no closer to a result.
The affliction comes and goes with episodes lasting a day to a weak, sometimes completely debilitating. Advised there might be a hundred things that could cause it, so far nothing has been found to stop it or even reduce it.
I know this does not help or even allay your fears! Would be grateful if you find something definite.

I don't know if it's of any help but a good mate of mine suffered from a similar condition and has been on extended leave from his employee. After extensive tests which showed nothing out of line it was finally discovered that his right eye was not giving the correct signals to his brain. Apparently it was a matter of "training" his right eye again. :confused:

You have to forgive me if it's not completely factually correct but that was how he had explained it to me several months ago. :)

If you are diagnosed with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, help may be as easy as having the Canalith Repositioning Procedure performed. This is a series of moves of your body which move the little calcium deposits floating in your inner ear canals (the cause of the vertigo) into different chambers where they are reabsorbed. A large percentage of patients are cured of their vertigo when they undergo this procedure. Your doctor has almost certainly heard of it, but if not, make sure to ask him/her about it. Good luck.

I'm not medically qualified but I have heard of a condition called Meniere's Disease which has similar symptoms to the ones you are describing.

It is certainly worth Googling as your doc may not have heard of it. Sounds like a case for referral to an ENT doctor.

I had this for about 6 months around 10 years ago, it went away of it's own accord.

If the cause is the particles in your ear you can find out which one it is by using these exercises: (!)

It is a very disconcerting feeling. Knowing what is causing it is of some comfort. Also knowing that it may resolve itself, which I hope will be your case.

Go to the very best medical facility you can as soon as possible, leave no stone unturned, you will want to see a Neurotologist, Neurologist, Ent, Internist, and yes, a Psychiatrist

(not necessarily in that order)


These problems can be triggered by a myriad of causes, it's a very scary condition I know, just start eliminating the causes until you find the right one.


Don't despair, stay positive and take care of your health. You will get better.
