Flew into Heathrow on Friday to be greeted by the beautiful sight of Concord installed in her ground running detuner, apparently this is not her usual parking space on the airfield. Are they doing anti det runs on her, is there something more exciting in the offing, or was she just parked there?

Try about three months at least, she is merely parked out of the way awaiting disposal as razor blades / show piece in Dubai?

She's been there most of the winter!

She was moved there to be out of the wind, primarily.

Also, it freed up the space near the BA hangar, and since the detuner is Concorde-only, it was a convenient spot to park her.

This Concorde (G-BOAB) was not modified for the return to service. She's mostly empty, was used for spares, and has no engines.

So sorry... nothing exciting in the offing.....

So far even her final destiny has not been decided ; rumours about her going to Dubai (!) have since been squashed.

So were some birds modded with a veiw of eventual return to service? Or was that the kevlar inserts?

Received wisdom says no chance.

The only airframe with anything approaching serviceable status is the AF Concorde in the hangar, and even then she's only being kept with a couple of hydraulic systems serviceable.

Sad but true.

So were some birds modded with a view of eventual return to service? Or was that the kevlar inserts?Of the BA aircraft, five were modded (kevlar tank inserts, tyres, brake fan wiring, etc.) and returned to service.

G-BOAA and G-BOAB were next on the list, but then "9/11" happened, the Iraq war, SARS, and all the other cr@p, which led to the end-of-service in 2003.
