Operating cost for EC225

Hi everybody,

Still currently working on my project - just wondering if anyone have any idea what the operating cost for the EC225.

If anyone have these kinda data that would be awesome.
1. Insurance costs
2. routine maintenance per hour
3. or any approximation of fixed and direct operating cost.

According to the last bit of data that I have from Conklin & de Decker the hourly variable cost for the EC225 is $2593.35.

Hi all,

I am also doing a project on Helicopter DOC's especially for the EC 130 B4. I would appreciate any assistance on this. If this is not available I am told I can add 15% to the DOC of the AS 350B3.

Any help is welcome.

The S-61 seems to come out very expensive - How do they work that one out ?? Is it just down to age and scarcity of parts ?

If you do a study on the EC130 and/or b3, make sure you have the latest telex with the new TBO's and inspection intervals as they were extended by quite a bit recently and thus will lower your cost and downtime alot due to longer intervals between servicings and TBO's.

Call your local Eurocopter Sales Rep - he/she will most likely email you the full Conklin & de Decker Report for that specific aircraft and if you ask nicely they include a second aircraft for comparison... after all, they want you to buy their products, so they will assist you when they can. That btw. is true for all manufacturers I talked to and received the data from.

Special 25 - The S-61 is hammered in terms of its high MMH/FH requirements and engine restoration costs. Parts costs are actually relatively low.

Note, the figures shown on Conklin's site are for fuel @ $6.50/gal. Since Jet-A has fallen a couple of bucks since last year, the current hourly figures for the 225, 92 and 61 are $2,217, $2,158 and $2,437, respectively.

18 months ago Eurocopter told me that the DOC for an EC130 was AUD$850/hr.

Direct Operating Costs are divided into Variable and Fixed costs.

Without going into the details too much, fixed costs would include insurance, standing maintenance charges etc, whereas variable would include fuel and oil, airport handling charges etc.

However, I suspect that the breakdown for rotary costs is likely to be far more simplistic than for the airline world, and to a degree the terminolgy is not universally unified.
