calling engineers

can anyone suggest the best way of finding licensed helicopter engineers for Robinson, bell hughes eurocopter and enstrom. There seems to be plenty of fixed wing but rotary are rare as hens teeth.

Perhaps if engineers received reasonable remuneration there may be more of them.

Put an ad on Aviation job search or go to Aircraft Engineers Bulletin Board - Powered by vBulletin (http://www.airmech.co.uk) and post something there advertising the position available.

Or you could maybe train some.

Try service centers in your area, or find a guy you like who is licensed and send him to a factory school.

If you don't have eneough of your own, speak to the Border Authorities to sort out their Visa requirements. I was offered a short term UNLICENSED position and was told that according to them I needed a license to get the Visa...:ugh:

it does depend on where you are based but here's a list of engineering workshops I've had dealings with. You'll have to go to Google for contact details.

HJS Helicopters, Aberdeen. First Class

Aero Maintenance, Pontefract. Very helpful, and sorted out a problem for me at a very reasonable price.

Tiger Helicopters, Herefordshire. Avoid

London Helicopters, Redhill. Very good, very experienced. Not the cheapest, but they are based in an expensive location.

Heliair, Wycombe, Denham, Wellesbourne. Similar to London Helicopters. First class Robinson outfit.

TK Helicopters, Harwarden. Enstrom specialist. Small family run business

HFI Helicopters, Bedford. Small family run business. Great value, great people.

HeliMech, Milton Keynes. Really helpful, low overheads

Rise Helicopters, Gloucester. Smart, clean outfit, run by the very competent Chief Engineer, John. Very customer focussed.

Rotorspan, Worcester. Family run business. Honest, good value, excellent workmanship. My favourite UK-based outfit.

Air Technology, Kortreck, Belgium. These guys set the standard that UK places should aspire to. 6 Technicians, all under the age of 45, 1 Tec records person, one working owner manager. 1 hanger, about 400 sq meters plus mezzanine floor. They look after about 80 aircraft - very impressive. Perfect record keeping that even I could understand.

you shouldn't knock engineering at Tiger, if I am correct your problem is with the main man, don't knock the lads who work in the Hangar, they are good guys, your own aircraft was well looked after there.:=

Quiche, it's the Company I suggested avoiding. I didn't mention the technicians who are working under very, very difficult conditions.

I removed our R22 that Tiger has been looking after when we discovered that our A109 parts - which we had paid for - were being used without our permission to keep Tiger's A109 in the air. This is a fact, not a rumour.

After this, how could I have any confident that the same thing wouldn't happen to the R22?

Trust is an essential part of engineer/pilot/customer relationship.

It's funny, I didn't want to get into another "Tiger" thread: I was simply responding to a genuine request from someone based in the UK who wanted some pointers relating to engineering companies. I hope I have helped - did you notice that there were many more positive comments than negatitve ones?
