I keep being told "The Aviation Industry is tough", "It's Hard to get into", "Theres going to be alot of stuff standing in your way". Well honestly... im sick and tired of hearing stuff like this :*. The people that come up with it are the only ones that have the power and the opportunity to change it. Well the Australian Air Force Cadets sets your budding children such as myself all willing to be pilots. They teach us the theory of being a pilot through specially designed courses. However after we leave Cadets or grow to old for it, There is no benefit of our learning because we have to take the exact same path as all the other pilots. However if a company would design a 'course' of have some sort of cadet program themselves (I know QANTAS does but it has nothing to do with AAFC). Not only would it help the job crisis it, would give us opportunity, all pilots another path to take, and a way for the companies to find staff. Any thoughts or any companies you know maybe willing to take it on?

Mate, you should wake the  up . What do you want to hear: It's very easy to get a job in aviation, just take a huge loan then another one and then another one and you even might end up in Ryanair...Why would anybody sponsor you? There are thousands of pilots on the streets now,all qualified and ready to start any minute...Everybody who wants to achieve something in this industry are not looking for easy ways...That's just the way it is.

There are a few who fund everything. Etihad Airways is probably the most well known one with an international cadet programme. How many applications do you think they get for the few seats they have? I'll bet the figure is 100 to 1. You have to be pretty fooking impressive and very, very lucky to get such an offer.

Kids these days want everything handed to them on a plate. Reminds me of a speech Bill Gates gave at a High School in recent past:

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time..

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
I expect this will be deleted but it's a good read for anyone who thinks the world owes them a favour.

Yeah, it can't have been Bill Gates or the speech would have been very expensive to listen to but then crashed at number 5, searched for a solution and then closed down anyway!

Officer first pilot second.

You do realise you have to be an officer first before you can become a pilot in the air force.

And using the military so you can get a commerical career afterwards is a bad way to go.
