How do you use, or should i say, misuse it?
In the US, they keep it on if there is a rumour of turbulence. In Europe some carriers keep the sign on from takeoff to TOC, then from TOD to landing. In Australia i was paxing between Brisbane and Cairns, the aircraft moved up and down a little bit, sign came on for the next hour and a half. I actually forgot about the sign until i had to visit the loo, then one of the CA`s reminded me.
Do we undermine the publics respect for the sign by overusing it?
Are we scared of being sued?
Does your company book tell you to use it everytime there is a slight chanse of turbulence?

Comes back to if someone is injured or killed dead in turbulence Mana, and you left the SB sign off.
Here in Nam its the same as in Korea. Kill one of there citizens in turbulence and your talking 10 years if the sign wasnt on. An injured Yank (faked injury or not) can get you 5 years if he successfuly sues your Company. So its more an @rse-covering exercise than anything else. I just turn it on before flying through ANY cloud wether I reckon its going to be rough or not.
