Hey all you partygoers out there who wanted to help the Star airline celebrate the 5th birthday.......$0.05c fares were on offer from 10 pm tonight.
Well yours truly was getting all excited about spending a weekend in Darwin or even Perth and blowing out a few candles in honour of the Star airline........
Can you imagine how I felt when at 10 pm I clicked the mouse and guess what came up folks..............Brisbane to Newcastle and Brisbane to Mackay!!!
I can just imagine the sort of fun weekend I could have in those places with all due respect.
But wait there's more, you can only take on a cabin bag AND the flights are for FEB/MAR 2010.!! Gee thanks I can barely wait. That's almost your 6th birthday if you are still around.
Goodness me Jetstar, surely you can do better than that for a birthday celebration.

Nothing against Jetstar or Tiger or whatever, but WTF is the go with these stupid "free" or 5 cent airfares. Its not good for anyone at the end of the day.
I wonder where it will end say in 20 years time.
Sorry about the thread drift....
AirAsia has way outdone jetstar for me today. I got Per-DPS(bali)-Per return for me AND my partner for $200 all inclusve of tax's etc...!!! And I am travelling in August THIS year!

I'm guessing there are a lot of people who missed out.
Perhaps that was the intent......As is often the case it's more about spin than the real thing.....:E

Would be a clever trick if they offered selected flights based on where your IP address came from.
In other words, when you log in they see an IP address from Perth, they offer you BNE-CNS.
Would not be hard........... :suspect:

Interestingly I just tried to book a Qantas flight from BNE to NTL which I did recently on a QLink Q300 (lovely little flight). But instead I was transfered to the Jetstar website. Looks like thats the future boys and gals. Glad I'm not in the Q.

Would seem they may have shot themselves in the foot with this promotion. Been trying for hours to book a flight (well, check the fare) for a trip tomorrow but all I get is a "unavailable" or "server busy" messages. Thats if if you can get onto the server.

That's an interesting take on the situation. It would seem to me that a busy server would indicate a very successful promotion (i.e., a lot pf people were using their website.)

That's an interesting take on the situation. I think what Brian was getting at was the site was in meltdown with people trying to book $0.05 flights while he was looking to book a trip at short notice...which I'm sure he would be paying a bit more than 5c for...

You lot are a pathetic little bunch of winging w@$^%$s. Great if you need travel to any of these crappy little destinations. However it's advertising, it's filling seats. Who friggin cares. At 5c a pop awesome. What harm is done.
