Hi all,

Other than the 30mm Aden cannon and 3kg practice bombs do Valley Hawks carry any other weapons for the training courses at Valley eg perhaps the AIM-9L (or a training AIM-9L round) for air-to-air work or the SNEB rocket pod. Presume only 19(R) Sqn would carry any weapons.

Can anyone clarify the above.

Cheers

Plenty of photos out there of 19 Sqn Hawks carrying 9L acqui rounds, in addition to the gun and 3kg bombs.

60 rounds of 30mm in the Aden, 3 kg practice bombs and Aim 9L acqui's (a very select few may very occasionally get the opportunity to fire a live Aim 9L). That is all.
19 Sqn are the only ones lucky (and indeed good) enough to carry them at Valley.

.........And Soon (ish), it will be all over. The Hawk T2 (formerly 128), doesn't shoot or drop anything.

Progress I'm told........ Hmmmm, not so sure myself.

That's not what Bae says about the T2 :=

Due to enter service in 2008 as a replacement for some of the current Hawk TMk1s. The Hawk T2/128 is intended as a Trainer for RAF use but it is also fully weapons capable. For the purposes of ArmA we are going to make both a BLUFOR and OPFOR versions with a variety of weapons

replacing the T1's, I thought only the T1A's where weapon capable.

I have fired a 9L from a Hawk whilst at Valley. Great fun but had to be done at idle power. You can also drop 14kg's from a Hawk and we did high angle strafe, high angle dive bombing and toss/loft as well. Calcs to 8 decimal places......thanks Mr T!!

Speaking as someone who has been involved closely with the T2 I can say the RAF has no current plans to hang anything off the T2 except for the semi permanent centre line tank / baggage pod, and has not purchased any pylons.
