View Full Version : AOA up-date clarification

Seems the AOA getting some negative feedback due to a misunderstanding of the latest up-date.
From the horses mouth as i needed clarification also:
The AOA is asking us to endorse only the changes to CoS08 and the housing/freighter command scale.
Any officer, whether they intend to remain on 99 or go over to 08 can vote on this, after all they are actually 'improvements'.
The AOA is adamant that officers choose which CoS is best for them and fought hard to retain their legal position to fight future court battles if required (eg age discrimination)
Some people thought the up-date was saying that the AOA was recommending that all go over to 08, far from it my source tells me. In fact the GC have advised NR that they can expect a low change over from USAB/young SO/Fos on CoS99/young A-scalers and possibly LEPs. NR answer, "we know".
So there you go, don't change your CoS if it is of no benefit to you!!!

The problem with the update was that which wasn't said.

I thought it was poorly worded, and I appreciate the clarification as well!

Agreeing to SLS seems to have been a great way to improve conditions of those who wish to sign Cos '08.

However, at the very least, the majority of S/O's and F/O's who wish to maintain and protect their current contract, need to know the have the FULL SUPPORT OF THE AOA!!!

The FULL support of the AOA means squat. Ask the 49'ers who fell for that one back in 2001 only to have that support ripped from under them in 2005 when the AOA commenced black ops negotiations with the Company.

Having the full support of the AOA is like having the full support of the CAD/FAA/JAA if you are in an accident...they are there to help..what a joke :}

AOA NO WAY!!

Seeing as you guys are so against the HKAOA kindly propose an alternative? It is my understanding that CX will only talk with the HKAOA for cockpit crew. Therefore I have to rely rightly or wrongly on the collective within the AOA.

I think you gents need to join the AOA. After all we are stronger in numbers. Imagine what will happen if we had 100% of the pilot group in the AOA. Just my cents.

The real discussions on these issues are happening on the AOA website forum. I suggest that anyone making negative comments regarding the AOA on PPRuNe is not properly connected or informed.

Just imagine, we could let them herd us all off a cliff, like they currently are...:hmm:

AoA selling out the majority again for the benefit of a few. The COS08 is still only good for people close to 55, and they are endorsing the SLS which screws everybody for this piece of crap COS08. I would really love to see the logic on this one, and I would also like to know if the president will be signing over to COS08.

Pathetic. :yuk: You can expect one less member after this endorsement. And I will personally apologize to all the pilots I encouraged to join.

AoA selling out the majority again for the benefit of a few. The COS08 is still only good for people close to 55,I think you will find the AOA has not sold anybody out. General opinion is that RA65 was coming sooner rather than later and even on this forum folks are saying do not sign COS 09 because the law is going to change in the future. The company were going to impose something come hell or high water. If the precedent of a approx 15% pay cut, losing travel and P fund is a good deal for those when they reach 55 then I would hate to see a bad deal! Those with the least to lose are the existing B scale Capts.

This deal is a good deal for the company full stop.

I think you gents need to join the AOA. After all we are stronger in numbers. Imagine what will happen if we had 100% of the pilot group in the AOA.The AOA became defunct in 05 when Gardner and Turner and his cronies gave up on the 49ers. At the time Rhodes gave the AOA President 18 months off the roster to help 'get the job done'. Smell a rat perhaps? Since then the company have used the AOA to endorse their dirty work. Unfortunately the GC has been silly enough to fall for it on each occasion. Notice how each time the AOA goes into 'talks' with the company your CoS goes backwards? Defunct is defunct irrespective of percentages.

Everybody, including myself..had high hopes for the AOA after the ST-era..

But..I'm afraid that the AOA has NOT taken an assertive and strong show against CX mismanagement.

I would love to join, but not unless they send out a STRONG and CLEAR message to NRhodent that enough is enough..

Come on AOA, stop pussy-footing about and STOP eating all the BS that the 3rd floor is feeding you..take a STRONG stance and DO something for your members..and you might even gain a few more!

GMA Update 01MAY09
I am pleased to say those discussions ended successfully on Thursday. At this
point I would like to acknowledge the hard work of both the HKAOA team and my own team in reaching this position. I am hopeful that this heralds an era of constructive cooperation. That says it all doesn't it? Constructive cooperation for as long as the aoa agrees to degradations in our conditions of service.

AD Posse guy. You would like to join but not until the AOA sends a strong message, blaa blaa...
I had to laugh, typical ignorant comment.
How can the AOA send out a strong message unless it has a big majority in membership???? Crew with your mentality are the ones prohibiting the ability of the AOA to send these so called strong messages!!
Again, more informed and accurate info on the AOA forums.
i just love visiting pprune to see how the other half live, ie in utter darkness and ignorance!

Fenwicksgirl,

So is the AoA basing decisions based on membership numbers or based on principles it believes in??

Fenwicksgirl..

Laugh as much as you want..I've actually had a look at the AOA forums, with the use of a mate's permission, and it's NOT all moonlight and roses on there, but a LOT of in-house mud throwing..

I would say the info is about 50/50 whether you post here on PPrune or HKAOAs' site..

Unless the AOA takes a much tougher stance, you might actully see a decline in numbers from the AOA (and that's from the TONE on the AOA forums!!)

Hey 'Esse,
What mudslinging?
Yet again you prove how frugal you are with the truth.
You couldn't lie straight in a coffin son.

How can the AOA send out a strong message unless it has a big majority in membership?

They did send that strong message...when they pledged undying support for the 49's, then sold them down the river to the company. And supported the SLS company money grab, and...fill in the blank the list is endless.

The only thing the AOA gains by having 100% membership, is the ability to screw a 100% of the aircrew.

Send the AOA a STRONG MESSAGE, quit and give yourself a RAISE!!!

AOA NO WAY!!!

Hey Joe, how has years of dues to that worthless association helped you?

Great negotiation team you got there. Where can I sign up for some more of that?
