LONDON, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Privately held London City Airport has detained one aircraft of Belgian airline Sabena [SAB.UL], which has sought protection from creditors, an executive of the airport said on Wednesday.
"We have detained one aircraft pending clarification of their financial situation," the airport's head of business development, Charles Buchanan, told Reuters.
The airline owed money for airport services, Buchanan said.
British airport operator BAA Plc <BAA.L> said it had delayed a Sabena plane at its Glasgow airport earlier in the day but the aircraft had now departed.
Sabena said earlier on Wednesday that it had sought protection from creditors in a bid to stay in business after co-parent Swissair Group <SWSZn.VX> had suspended operations and failed to make a recapitalisation payment to the Belgian carrier.
The Belgian government said on Wednesday it would help finance Sabena.

LCY is serviced by Dutch registered Schreiner aeroplanes....SN charters these aeroplanes. I guess they did not do their homework....
