There are already threads mulling over the new meetings of captains (sorry, "Commanders") and how Emirates is heading to a major event.

But this is incredible...an excerpt from an article posted purportedly as "some background on why we are meeting with all Commanders in the month of May", to pilots from EK management (bolding mine):

Managers who have an in-depth understanding of aircraft operations and the problems facing crews on an ongoing basis, are far more likely to impose a work environment that gets the best out of their workforce and thus contribute significantly to a safe operation. Conversely, managers who constantly seek to extract the maximum effort from their crews, without regard for fatigue or other performance-reducing factors, are possibly stacking the odds in favour of an incident or accident.

Could it be said any better? Who of the EK managers actually flies the rosters being assigned?

It's enough to make you :yuk:. Well, if the rostering, productivity threshold, utilities allowance, training, etc etc changes weren't enough to achieve that.

Irony indeed: not only the opinion of workload vs accident rate but the references to declining recruitment standards, training graduation standards, dept of training/reduction of training content and other factors, did seem to clash with the direction taken in the last 2 years, or thereabouts. Hidden message?

A snippet on SHK Mo's visit to the new COC last week ," Emirates airline, the group's backbone, will remain a messenger of peace from the UAE people to all people of the world". and I thought I was just a pilot.:}

If only he knew, or cared,

Just remember boys and girls..." messengers of peace."
