GreenTale has obviously heard that his pay is going up to £50K from 1st April..and the ding dong presumably means "pull the other one-it's got bells on it" as he doubts the truth of this rumour..
(How's that for deduction on so few clues?)
Something to do with April Fool's Day maybe?
