Just interested to know who is paying or considering paying for their own TR in the near future?( Self funded/ Non scheme, ie, RYR or CTC)

I have the opportunity to do a 737 classic, with NG differences course at LGW this summer with integrated MCC at a reduced price

Base training with the usual lot, either Cimber Sterling/ Travel service or Sky Europe also at a reduced price and accom included....

Total time= classroom, MCC and sim is 6 weeks...

Anyone interested in being a partner and doesnt yet have MCC rating send me PM as the total package price is based on 2 candidates...

Do you have a job lined up? If not I would seriously think long and hard before you throw away your money. FR are the biggest hirer of pilots and as I am sure you know they insist that you go through their training programme if you want to get your first gig with them. There are thousands of 737 pilots out of work with many many more hours than you will get from this scheme who are line trained, checked etc with significant commercial experience ready to jump into a shiny jet at little or no cost to an employer so tread carefully.

Thanks for your advice and I do take it onboard, however There are a few reasons for considering this course,

I can take paid annual leave from my current employer for the duration of the course.
This course duration would normally mean one has to leave his employer or take unpaid leave,

I work in a non flying job for a NG operator and if I am type qualified I will be in a slightly better position for a R/H seat dependant on the future recruitment plans....

I dont have the MCC rating and dont want to spend 3K and 10 days doing so in a FNPT II...

IR renewal due in September and the LST/LPC will cover this, albeit Multi Crew IR...

techboy and what happens in a year when you don't have a job? Going to pay to become current again? I would have though an MCC and IR revalidation would have been a hell of a lot cheaper than a full blown type in a 737. You also have to realise that if you do get the type what happens if you cant get a job on a 737? Are you then going to buy a type on another aircraft.

Good advice from potkettleblack.. but as they say each to their own but also a fool and his money are easily parted

Anyone interested in being a sim partner on the NG assessment?

2 hours.... 1 hr pf and 1 hour pilot monitoring...

Why are you paying for an an assessment on the NG when you are doing a classic course plus diffs?

The whole purpose is to see if you can go onto a type course without extra sim or JOC first, the assessment will be raw data so you may as well do this in the cheapest sim as the NG will not help one bit, you want std layout and std instruments.

You are correct. the assessment is to find out whether or not you can cope with the jet and if so will you require extra training or not

The sim assessment is done using the NG for assessment only.
Its full motion and the cost is fully credited towards the price of the TR
The type course is done on the classic because the classic sim is 80gbp per hour cheaper.
Im not choosing the NG for assessment, thats whats on offer!
