"The scheme is being implemented not so much to save cash (although it will obviously save some), but primarily to demonstrate solidarity within the Company, so as to put pressure on suppliers."
What's being said here is that the Company wants its employees to provide them with a lever to act outside their agreements and contracts with the organisations that they interface with while conducting their commercial operations.
Isn't this the same thing that they're attempting to undertake with their employees in the long term?
