Ryanair Receives 12,000 Suggestions for Next Discretionary Charge

Passengers to Decide Which Idea Will Win €1,000 Cash Prize

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (8 Apr) announced that it received over 12,000 suggestions from passengers as part of the low fares airline’s competition to suggest a discretionary revenue charge which would help lower Ryanair’s costs and reduce its guaranteed lowest fares even further.

Ryanair revealed the top five ideas and launched an online poll on www.ryanair.com (http://www.ryanair.com/) to allow passengers to decide which idea is worthy of the €1,000 cash prize. The online poll will remain open until Friday 17th April.

The top five suggestions are:

€1 for toilet paper – with O’Leary’s face on it,
€2 “corkage” fee for passengers who bring their own food,
€5 annual subscription to access Ryanair.com,
€3 to smoke in a converted toilet cubicle,
Excess fees for overweight passengers based on body mass index.
Launching the poll, Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:

“Ryanair is Europe’s largest low fares airline and we will continue to reduce fares by stimulating ancillary revenues. Over 12,000 ideas were suggested to us as ways of driving our guaranteed lowest fares even lower and our top five entries are now available on ryanair.com for passengers to choose the winner. The online poll will close on Friday 17th April and the winning entry will be revealed shortly after.”

Nice to see the present top item is the toilet paper with HIS face on it.
Pity they can't get him to come round personally to assist each passenger
as they actually use it.
There again, that could cause some confusion.
Would save a lot of paper though.

How about a charge for taking part in their poll?

Or a charge for making a suggestion.

Just for amusement, hit the RYN site. Did you know, one (pilot) has to pay £50 yes £50 to submit an application for employment. And get this....If your application is unsuccessful, one does not get a refund.

Insist on full names (including middle/maiden) on all bookings - then charge 10p a letter (shown in the "Additional fees and taxes" section at the end of the booking process).

Then advertise a link on the site for a "change your name by deed poll" company, who pay FR per click!

Replace half the toilets with coin-operated 'mile-high' photo booths.

Accommodating passengers in relative comfort (as per main cabin), these booths would allow passengers to 'relieve themselves' at FL55 or thereabouts, automatically print 'mile-high club' certificates and produce an accompanying DVD. At extra charge, payable in cash on disembarkment, if requested, a pilot would supply an attestation that they had witnessed the event (for security reasons if nothing else)...?! :ok:

How about flying with any carrier of your choice but still paying Fr a fee for the hell of it!

£200 for NOT having to sit beside someone who thinks shouting at his mates using his cellphone in flight is a good idea
