I would imagine that this might provoke some comment:

Bubbles for buildings (http://www.e4engineering.com/item.asp?id=43888&type=News&ch=e4_home)

Is it workable?

Mmmm, interesting. IF they can do it, then presumably it would also prevent all CFIT crashes. Though if thats the case, it makes me wonder why it hasn't been done already? I'm guessing its for technical reasons, but if its financial reasons then maybe it will now happen.
I watch with interest...

It would appear that we already have emergency exit systems for transport category aircraft.....

therefore my idea is simple.

All we have to do is install tiny little emergency exit doors on every floor in a multi story building. Then, after an evacuate command from the captain (sorry, I mean the security guard sleeping in the foyer), every one in the building calmly stands, removes their shoes, leaves behind their briefcaes, lunchboxes, laptops etc.

They will then calmly follow the illuminated corridor markings to their nearest emergency exit, where, an able bodied person will have (having been previously briefed individually by suitably qualified workplace health and safety inspectors) already released the emergency descent chutes.

With enough funding to my numbered swiss bank account, I'm sure I could develop a failsafe system totally impervious to would be hi-jacking attempts.

I thought Superman was able to protect tall buildings in a single bound. Or am I confused again?
