View Full Version : 5 Year Olds Can Fly!

I am not a pilot but have a passing interest in aviation matters. I read the letters on this forum and something puzzles me. Why do professional people in charge of many passengers lives and millions of pounds of machinery all appear to act like they have just been let out of nursery school?. I find it really scary that a bunch of five year olds, like you all appear to be, can get pilots licences and fly my family and me anywhere in the world. Please reply!

QAww - Unfortunately there is a small minority who 'act like 5 year olds'. Please don't tar us all with the same brush!

This forum is a great place to debate and share ideas....it's just a shame that so many threads descend into name-calling.

your are very cold! is it cause u are from antartica??

is it because they all seem to have sissy fights with words? some of the stuff i get on here i find very useful, because i hope to become a pilot someday, but i can see where you are coming from! but i guess its just like the playground at school, its a way of letting out steam.

Come on now, that's rather insulting to five year olds - I know a number of exceptionally clever and talented ones!

Not all aircrew act like five year olds...... indeed some now even know how to tie up their shoelaces, although it took a lot of time and carefull demostration from a Engineer to be able to complete the task.......lots of mutterings about Checklists and whether it comes under Normal or Non-Normal ! :p :D

Old Nyrop at NWA used to say pilots are seagulls - all they do is squawk and sh+t, and you have to throw rocks at them to get them to fly....

Thanks Huck, I needed a good laugh to end the day.

Isn't an antartic a very small truck?

well, at least as 5 year olds they are a little ahead of ATC-ers.... Overheard on MCR App many years back...

A/C: "G-XXXX at Crewe for the LLR, request traffic info..."

MCR: "G-XXXX stand by one, we're just changing the controller"

A/C: "Roger that, why, has the poor little thing messed himself?"

Some of us here are five year olds, the rest never grew up anyway. Most importantly some of the worst offenders are not even pilots.
I love that comment about pilots being like seagulls.
Sirwa, how did you you get hold of my biography? I thought I'd kept the dressing as a trolley dolly thing a secret. Is nothing sacred?

QAww,

In your world, unlike other human beings, it would appear that we aviators are not allowed to let our hair down now and again.

GET A LIFE.

"So what do you want to be when you grow up?"

"A pilot Sir!"

"Don't be silly, you can't do both."

"if you want to be a pilot, you'd better grow up, Stupid..."

"But I AM growing up stupid, dad..."
