Just curious if any of the TV providers in Dubai offer any kind of sports TV packages like Directv in the US. Any way to get MLB, NFL, or NHL games? Thanks for any info!

Showtime and Orbit have very limited offerings. If you want more, get a slingbox.

Can you "see" the British sky or Freesat satellites from DXB?

Thanks for the heads up about the slingbox unit. Has anyone had much luck with using the slingbox and slingcatcher in Dubai? I only ask as I was reading on the sling community forum that the internet speeds in Dubai don't allow for that great of a picture, especially in HD.

I have 2mps and it streams at 600-750 kbps. (that provides a decent picture) It is important to have a good upload speed where your slingbox is located.

I have heard that you can "see" the UK Sky and Freesat satellite from the UAE. You will need a 3 meter dish to get a usable signal from it however. You can get a Freesat box from ebay quite easily and after that there's no subscription. The content is growing every month including sports.

This site (http://www.dishpointer.com/) will help you aim your dish at whichever satellite you choose to use.
