I’ve taken the liberty of using a photo of my "new ride" for the April 2009 calendar: one of Australian Helicopters’ Bell 412EP’s, VH-VAS/HEMS 5. AustHeli have a number of Bell 412’s, including not only the first 412 (s/n 1) but also the two latest EP’s (s/n's 504 & 505) which are contracted to Ambulance Victoria as HEMS 4 and HEMS 5. HEMS 5 is based out of the new Air Ambulance facility at Essendon Airport, Victoria, and HEMS 4 will be based in western Victoria operating from Warrnambool. Both are single pilot IFR, and extremely well equipped: which is just the way it should be :)
