Oh, no...please don't tell the Guv; next week he'll buy the lot and we won't hear the last of it!

Father Christmas, if you're listening please give Neil anything he wants in his stockings, except an L-1011 (pretty please?) as for Sid, he'd like a valid, shiny ATPL!

What a shame that as many as 63 have been dismantled. However,it is good to see that many of the -500's are still flying, a real hi-tech (in its day) bit of kit. Anyone know what became of JY-HKJ, the -500 belonging to the Jordanian Royal Flight. It has to be one of the best L1011's flying. I believe it has been replaced by an Airbus A340.

Denzil,

King Hussein's L-1011-500 is still for sale, asking price was approx. $45,000,000 one year ago. Despite some details, it's interior is similar to the Saudi Royal Flight's -500s.
King Abdulla recently acquired an Airbus A340 from the Sultan of Brunei for VIP flights. It's a Jordanian tradition that a passed King's personal aircraft is no longer used by his successor (as like his horses).

JY-HKJ is in good condition but who on earth would be willing to pay that kind of money??
The Guvnor could buy half of Delta's fleet for that much!!!!!

Considering the price of today's business jets (in that widebody size) I wouldn't say the Jordanian L-1011's price is too far away - although still too expensive, of course. Keep in mind that it ran only 2,500 cycles and 1,800 hours. In addition, the price might have been lowered already.

Is American Trans Air currently the largest L-1011 operator (with about 18 to 20 examples)?

Yes.

By the way, sorry, I mixed up the data above:

JY-HKJ accumulated 1,800 cycles and 2,500 hours.
