Hi everyone. I have a few questions about this MCC course.

The introductory letter to the course states that the objective of the MCC course is to train students in CRM theory and allow them to demonstrate what they have learned in the simulator. It says it is a generic, non-type specific course, focussing on improving communication skills and avoiding traps in human interaction.

It then goes on to say that the course is modified to represent Ryanair SOPs and suggests that your IFR procedure comprehension might need a brush up before beginning.

For most wannabes one of the advantages of going to OAA in Stockholm is the link with Ryanair. The students' performances in the Sim are supposedly evaluated and graded on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being Not completed and 5 being Excellent. I have heard that you need to get an average grading of 4 or 5 to progress to a Ryanair Assessment Day.

There is a lot of technical information, including standard and non-standard checklists, SOPs, flight planning, load sheets, about 30 airport plates, provided to the student before attending the course, and this gives the impression that the students have to attain very high technical standards on the MCC. Grades 4 and 5 are described as involving impressive performances with practically no remarks!

Considering all the above information, it gives you the impression that you have to fly each sim session like it's an Instrument Rating Skills Test, albeit one on an unfamilar aircraft which happens to be a jet, with unfamiliar airports, as part of a 2-pilot crew, unfamiliar routes etc etc. And no prior practice.

Does anyone know how the Instructors actually decide on a grade for the students? Are they looking at the CRM stuff or treating the MCC like a mini Type Rating?!

Is this evaluation and grading system still part of Ryanair recruitment?
