I used to regularly fly into Swanton Morley to see a mate and have a cuppa in 1988/9 and in a black hangar a Canberra in reasonable condition, lurked. I think it was a trainer? Does anyone know what happened to the said machine? Huge grass airfield, did they fly it in or trailer it in bits and reassemble?

It surely can't still be there gathering dust?

Canberra WJ775 B6.RC there about that time...ex-51 Sqn & 192 Sqn.

Used for Radio Calibration work! :hmm::hmm::hmm:

What remains on the move recently -

Was dismantled and trailered out approx 93, a year or so before the place was handed over to the Army (which promptly demolished the two hangars used by the RAF). It was used as a training aid by the NDT school.

Aviate1138 et al,
I left the area before the Canberra moved in, but when I was there in 1968 the NDT unit were using Javelin XH986 for nefarious testing purposes.
