My mother has MS and as such finds it hard to move around, stand up, play ice hockey etc etc., but after I took my Dad flying last summer, she really feels left out and would love to try flying in a light aircraft.

Does anyone know which, if any, flying clubs and organisations in the UK could help? It's her birthday ina couple of weeks and I'd love to surprise her...(cue violins and soft focus)

Thanks guys

If she can manage to get on board, try Mithril at Goodwood (www.mithril.co.uk)
who operate Tiger Moths - standard trip 15 mins airbourne for a flight of a lifetime.

Try the Scottish Gliding Centre at Portmoak near Kinross in Fife ( Jct 5 off the M90 ).They have a scheme called "Walking on Air" and operate a specially adapted K-21 to enable disabled people to have lessons or Air Experience flights. They even have a special device to help the people into and out of the aircraft. Contact them on 01592 840543 or visit their web site at www.scottishglidingcentre.co.uk (http://www.scottishglidingcentre.co.uk)

You haven't said where you are, but you could try the following:-

APT (Aviation for Paraplegics and Tetraplegics), Old Sarum (Wiltshire) 01722-336686.

Mercury Flying Club, near Blackpool, 01254-831345.

I fly jollies for the Tiger Club and I've taken all sorts up. Last year, for instance, I took a chap up who was 92 and had been in school with Frank Whittle!!!!!!! Spooky. We take disabled people up all the time in Tiger Moths, just call on 01622-891017. Not cheap though!
