Gentlemen and Ladies, the various companies selling 'screen protectors' cut to fit mobile 'phones, iPods etc.. all claim that their wonderful product was first made to protect military helicopter blades.

If it's true, can anyone tell me where I can get 10 metres of it to protect the plastic windows on my project Land Rover?

Many thanks.

John

This is the stuff
Leading Edge Tape | Consumables | Demon Tweeks Motorsport, Motorcycle, Car Modifying, Parts and Accessories,Sparco, Arai (http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=MCYCLE&pcode=AEH86741HS)

Being leading edge tape for helicopter main rotor blades, it usually comes in widths no more than 150mm and is a about 2mm thick. Maybe not exactly what you're looking for?

LAS ( Light Aero Spares) do the 6 inch wide leading edge tape, but you will struggle to see through it

LAS Aerospace Ltd (http://www.lasaero.com/search.php?part=&desc=blade+tape)

though wont something like this do just as well?

LLumar Automotive Window Films and Window Tinting (http://www.llumar.com/en/Automotive.aspx)

Nodrama.

Thanks for that - but it doesn't seem to be the stuff I've seen (and bought for my 'phone).

NutLoose.

The Llumar stuff looks like a possibility. I've emailed them for prices.

Seems like the helicopter blade thing is the miss-selling I had suspected.
