Hereby as promised my update in regard to the PPL training that I’m following at the EFT in Florida. First of all I want to make clear that I’m not related to the school in any kind of way, also that they are not paying me to write this update.:= It is entirely an independent opinion based on my experience of this past five weeks. Time fly when you are having fun………..

At my arrival five weeks ago I got picked up at the Orlando Airport as promised. As it was quite late I spend my first night at a nice hotel, enabling me to recover from my long journey. The next day the school shuttle came by, which by the way is driven to the different location were the students are staying, by two great fellows Randy & Steve. Randy is in charge of the morning shift and Steve of the afternoon shift. Randy is also the one who will escort you to the police station for your fingerprints and to the doctor for your FAA medical. I would recommend to do your medical over here, as it will save you quite some money. The first few days it is all about enrolling, first payment, finger prints, medical, getting green light from the TSA, getting settled at your house or apartment, finding your way around, shopping for groceries, etc……. As for myself, I have chosen to rent a car from the school, because I’m doing the night rating and as the last shuttle lives the school at seven pm, I don’t want to get stranded. Second, I like to be flexible and to move freely around. Still, the choice is yours and entirely free. As you may have seen on the website, the EFT instructors are from England, Scotland & Denmark. They are all well qualified and very helpful. Claus has been all the way my instructor and this coming two weeks we are going to focus on my Solo, plus the upcoming skill test. I definitely would recommend to do your written exams before coming over here or strait away at you arrival, allowing you to focus on the flying part. For me it was quit killing to pass almost every week one of them, maybe because I'm 42 years old . Luckily I managed and after tomorrow I will only have two left. I recon that some of you are curious on the status of the Cessna’s. I must say they are in good shape and all the time at our disposal. They have also in place a strict maintenance schedule, which I think is essential as you can not bargain with safety. The airport is very suited for the training and often used by private jets, scheduled flights or visitors. You will definitely be able to practice your radio not only locally, but also during your navigation trips.

EFT is definitely getting back on track and I’m glad that I have given them the benefit of the doubt. I know what you are thinking……Is everything at EFT at the moment so dam perfect? Well, almost. Maybe due to what they have endured last year. There are of course so now en then minor defects, which is up to you to address them as you would do at work or somewhere else. I definitely hope that they will keep up with this long term vision.

Still two weeks ahead of me. At my return at home I will, for those who are interested, give my final update. In the mean time if you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message. Sorry, but it is now time for me to get back to my books. :8 Cheers……… DE
