Can anyone confirm a rumour I keep hearing that the daily 747-400 flight to Bombay(or Mumbai as it's now called) is being changed to a twice daily 777? I thought BA's 777 weren't yet converted to provide proper crew rest areas!

Thanks.

Why do you need crew rest on a LHR-BOM?

Basil - Fatigue, of course.

The 747-200 currently operates the LHR-BOM flights, not the -400. It is planned to change to the 777 but I don't know the timescale.
The 777 does have crew rest facilities, although it is a temporary, and less than ideal, arrangement. The 777 currently operates much longer sectors than LHR-BOM, such as LHR-PEK and LHR-KUL.

Obviously your a worried 777 or 744 pilot

I thought it was false....but I stand corrected as per above. Oh well you'll have to sleep on the floor in the front galley of a triple 7!......Nice.

Thanks so much Captain Airclues - just the information I was looking for! Btw the reason I said 400 series was due to the fact that when I last made the trip in Feb this year it was a 400, but I know BA have chopped and changed in the past between the 200 and 400.

Cheers.
