A very noble effort. I hope you've got a scanner and didn't hand type all that!

Yes, but who knows what VIRGA stands for ?(And no funny jokes about VIAGRA please :) )

Manflex55

Pelican,

If U refer to the wx phenomenon, it is simply rainfall evaporating before striking the ground.

VIRGA doesn't stand for anything, it is an actual word. Virga is the phenomenon of precipitation that doesn't reach the ground due to evaporation.

Actually....

VIRGA stands for:

Visual Indication (of) Rain Gradient Aloft.

Ha! Hardly anybody knows that one!

OK Pelican, trivia time, do you know what an isalobar is?
If you are a met man this will not be a challenge

Pelican
11th Aug 2001, 19:32
Well, I'm affraid I have just been exposed; for a met man I am not...

Thanks Innuendo, I quite enjoyed my moment in the spotlight there :)

But what on earth is an isalobar then? (I feel it's only polite to ask).

lurkio

innuendo. Is it a line joining places of equal change of pressure? Maybe not, who knows (or really cares if we're being honest).
