A stupid German news show just reported he tried to swim away from the rescue helicopter, while showing a video of a Bell 407 hovering over a body floating in the water.:ugh:

For a change it appears that the "german news show" wasn't all that stupid, because it looks like that that's what happened! They have the pilot on record saying that the guy got out of a sling himself and then resisted the rescue swimmers trying to pull him to shore.
Not sure about the "blow him to shore with the downwash" though.

Unbelievable that he stayed conscious that long...
