I hear a rumour that one of the aircraft at the Sunderland Air Show today (I went yesterday, excellent display) developed a problem, had to break off the display and made a successful emergency landing at NCL. From the description given to me, I infer that the aircraft was the Hawk trainer. Confirmation/details anybody?

It was the Harrier GR7 display. Its front undercarriage came down during a high speed manouvre. It returned to newcastle safely, i saw it happen and all it was, was the front wheel of the undercarriage came down during a loop.

Keep meaning to go every year, and something always comes up that prevents me.
Anyway, now the obvious question, how come them mackums get a air show, when the capital of the north doesn't, least we got a airport. ;)

Another top show! The F117 did a fast flyby along the NCL runway on the Saturday - pretty spectacular by all accounts!
