hi guys,
I was wondering if I can get some information regarding engine positioning on a Blended Wing Body aircraft.
As far as I know they are best placed on top of the plane at the rear. But my main area of interest is, whether it is better using pylons or having them sunk in?
What are the advantages of this?.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please feel free to add a comment.
Thank you :)

Sinking them in creates a lot more complexity with structures (spar hoops), airframe integrity issues, maybe intake design etc. and reduces wing fuel volume.
Overall airframe drag should be lower though

Overwing potential for intake issues at high alpha, main reason would be radar/heat/noise signature as in military stealth.

Closely underslung like Concorde might be optimum.

placing the engines on pods on top of the aircraft also reduces noise.
that's the man reason why the engines would be placed on top.
