Hi to all,

Can anyone advise as to when the next A380 is scheduled to arrive at ORT. I've tried searching all forums but everything points back to the 2006 visit?

Thanks
JSP.

With multi-flights daily into JNB I would bet on Emirates with BA a good second - when they get their 380's

Thanks dudleydick, do you know what the alternatives are if FAJS is unavail due to WX, is FADN a possibility?

EK should be the first operator of the A380 into JNB, but only in 2010. As official airline to the world cup I'd expect them to fly them to JNB for the tournament at least. Lufthansa (LH) have also stated their desire to send the A380 to JNB, in fact JNB is meant to be on LH's shortlist for early A380 services. BA is almost a certainty, although they only get their's 2012-ish. AF and QF as outsiders.

Re diversion points that is one of the main factors in the A380-to-JNB timeline. At the moment there are no diversion points in Southern Africa. Upington's runway is long enough but the terminal/infrastructure couldn't cope with 550+ pax on short notice. CPT is not A380 compliant at present. DUR currently couldn't handle an A380 either, however when KSIA comes online early next year...
