2) Mach trim is initiated by : (a) A/P trim motor (b) Mach/Speed trim motor (c) Electric trim motor
3) How INS obtain vertical calculation ?
4) FMS using NAVAID for what purpose?
5) For aircraft to be certified for automatic landing; an Autothrottle system is : (a) mandatory (b) depends on operator in slow speed (c) not mandatory.
6) When can the FMS be engaged with the Autothrottle: (a) before take off (b) only after take off (c) A/P and F/D engaged

Sounds like generic basic questions!

1) probably (c) - needs f/d or a/p
2) b)
3) with accelerometers (3 axis)
4) navigation updating
5) Probably a) - crew workload related
6) a)
7) c) versine lifts the nose during a/p turns, so needs to be linked to speed ie. more speed = more lift, less versine reqd.

Thanks aveng for answering the qs. Going to sit for my EASA Part 66 B2 exam soon. Great help. Thanks again.
Can you further help in the following qs:
1) Deviation of 8.33 khz offset frequency in VHF? (a) permitted (b) not permitted
2) Fail Passive on Autoland : (a) Produce no out of trim and A/P is not completed. (b) Produce no out of trim and A/P is completed (c) Produce out of trim and A/P is not completed.
3) If an ILS receiver fails Before localiser capture: (a) autoland continue (b) revert to cat II (c) autoland discontinue.
4) If an ILS receiver fails After localiser capture : (a) autoland continue (b) revert to cat II (c) GA is initiated.

Many thanks in advanced.

1) do you mean channel spacing? - not sure might be an easa thing.
2) Dont understand "complete" - do you mean coupled? ie. a/p engaged. I try to think of a/p operation as what would you logically want it to do if it fails, ie. be as soft on operation as possible and not try to drive a/c into ground or pitch up or something stupid. So consider which answer would be best.
3)/4) ILS rcvr is critical for autoland - not sure but probably 3)=(c) don't know if it its refering to a triple redundant system or not because 1 out 3 failing what not be as critical and would probably set the system to land 2 only.
Sorry not very helpful:ok:

Autoland does not need Autothrottle on some a/c types . It is not mandatory.

Autoland does need an independant Landing System for each Autopilot . It is possible but rare for a/c to use Micrwave Landing Systems in place of ILS and there is a plan to introduce a GPS based Landing System at some time in the future ( trials are already under way ) .

Yes the BA Airbus fleet is fitted with MLS. The trials are completed, and approval is due for Cat 3 at LHR this month.
Big advantage is much closer spacing on finals with no beam distortion.

Already in use in Sydney - late model QF 737-800's have the new LS panels and are in use.

I'm a bit worried that someone going for a B2 licence doesn't know the answers to these very basic questions. :uhoh:

TONYMMHO,
Have you ever thought about learning how nav and auto flight systems actually work; and then you can answer these questions from experience? Obviously you prefer to find the answers to specific questions which you can then answer parrot fashion, thus acquiring a qualification you don't deserve
