Hi

Can anyone please tell me the staff travel arrangements at Gulf? For example are they stby or firm tickets...economy or business...on which airlines it can be used....who is eligible ie.is it parents as well as the mrs and kids? Is it a good system in general?

Also how many free tickets do you and the family get a year to go home...I heard two Per year but someone else told me one.

Thanks in advance

JJ

Go to staff travel office near the gate, get the booklet available on the stands there, read it, it will answer all your questions.
If you can’t find the booklet, ask any one of the staff there, they will give you a copy. Easy, is it not?

Hi MKDAR...yeah I suppose it is, thanks for pointing that out and sorry for asking such a ridiculous question....thing is I live in the UK and therefore it is quite difficult for me to pop in!!! Anyone got any more helpful suggestions?

You could ask those questions at the interview....

Actually on second thought, if you were employed from the UK you would get two annual leave tickets if the company decides to split your leave in two which is usually the case.
Staff travel benefits otherwise are the same as most international airlines.

Good luck

You can have STBY tickets (ID90) on most airlines for Y/J classes if you are a F/O or Y/F if you are a captain.
The list of agreement is quite long and you can access it only as a GF staff, unless you know somebody at GF that could print it and send it for you.
FIRM tickets (ID50) is subjected to boarding priority (1,2,3,...) at each airline according to the type of agreement set by GF and the carrier chosen.
Do not be fooled by FIRM tickets on other airlines if you really want to reach your destination since on most of them you have medium/low boarding priority and you will be pushed to the waiting list without hesitation. In that case, go to the specific airline travel agent and buy the ticket.
We entitled to two free leave tickets a year and one of them is called FULL LEAVE TICKET and is like a regular ticket you buy at the travel agent and the other is called SPLIT LEAVE TICKET and is valid only on GF network. (seems not to be a problem for you since you live in UK, even better if you leave in London).
As far as I know this entitlement is valid for your parents as well and you can add a certain number of people (relatives, friends,...) but only for STBY (ID90), but not for FIRM ID50 and any LEAVE TICKET.
Do not be surprised when asking for information and get such answers like these on previous posts. Sometimes going to the Staff Travel here is a waste of time and there are still helpless staff there.
I was on the same position as you in the past but I found well intentioned people willing to help each other and to help to make GF better every day.
These are just basic information that affect direclty our travel planning.

Good luck!

As a retired at 60 from GF.
and a GF pilot for 26years...I and other pilots now in the UK find it impossible to get our one annual GF retirement ticket issued from the London GF staff travel office let alone ask for retirement tickets on other airlines.
You always get a voice mail answer that "I am not available etc...you leave a message...you later write a letter...and nobody calls you back or replies to your letter.
Sadly many of us have had to simply give up on GF Staff travel in retirement.

At my current airline we get unlimited extra crew passes which are useful to travel on the company network. Does Gulf Air have this as well
You can get unlimited ID 90s etc., but no 'crew passes'.

No need to be brave to fly with GF....I am married and have two teenage daughters...done the brave bit.
But we do need a GF ticket to ride GF and annual family retirement tickets were listed in my contract after 20years service.
It now seems impossible to get this contract condition honoured via the GF London staff travel lady.
Presently Ryan Air and P&O Cruises get all my cash business and the Bahrain tourist facilities and hotels sadly zero.
