Hello,

Just wondered when I was on the BAW913U from EDDF-EGLL from Gate D5 on Saturday, the plane on D4 was a JAL 777 and the Captain had a face mask on, and a few passengers also but not everyone.

Whats all this about?

Regards,

You wear a mask when you have a cold.

I asked about it when I was in Tokyo. It's to stop the spread of germs apparently.

and hay fever, which is starting early this year. All the cedar planted just after WW2 are maturing, so hay fever is endemic in Japan.

and it's a load of cockerhoop, the masks become damp within a couple of minutes of wearing, and allow most infections through.

Should he be flying if he has a cold?
