Ran across this at a Chinook web site.....

Any one have any information on this particular aircraft?

Maybe it went to the bottom of the oggin in the hold of the Atlantic Conveyor? Falklands deployments started in April 1982 so the timing of the transfer would be apposite.

Had a look at UK Serials (http://www.ukserials.com/) and found the 3 Falklands losses as deck cargo on the Atlantic Conveyor.

None of the UK Chinooks listed had a Build Number of B-018, so this must have been changed as the UK Chinooks were originally HC1s, equivalent to CH47Cs (assume it was rebuilt for RAF). Also seems N regs get used again unlike the CAA regs, so N regs listed on above site do not come up as CH47s on FAA website.

I thought all the UK Chinooks HC1's were "new build" Airframes when they got them, maybe this old girl was bought as an instructional airframe for engineering training? and hence no history since shipping to UK.
