A Lament For Memory!

To my chagrin I have mislaid (lost!) an e.mail from a member of PPRuNe Forums......it was submitted to me some two years ago and gave specific details of a RAF Meteor Mk.8 that crashed onto Butlins Camp in September 1953. If any member can remember I would much appreciate a re-has of that information. Secondly, and this plea is as a result of a failing memory; I read somewhere that the RAF Meteor had a very poor service record with a great many jets having problems which invariably killed the Pilot or both Pilot and Pupil ---- a figure of over a 1000 such "accidents" comes to mind......surely this cannot be true. I would appreciate any kind of info re. this matter.

I heartily recommend Nick Carter's book "Meteor Eject!"

It lists almost all the Meteor crashes and their casualties and an account of his own problems with the type.
