Fed up with all the doom and gloom?

Pine for the days when the Fleet Air Arm had 'proper' carrier fixed wing aircraft?

020 Was the only Buccaneer in Royal Navy Colours That flew from Lossiemouth 94 in the Farewell the Buccaneer Display, with 208 Squadron. 020 Is on display at Bruntingthorpe, Ground/runner With the late LT/CDR W H C Watson and L/T CDR A J Hulme names below the cockpits

The aircraft painted up as 020 was XX894, which ironically had never flown with the FAA. The final flypast in march 1994 involved aircraft from 208 sqn at Lossie which were painted to represent the markings of all the RAF units that had flown the Bucc (12, XV, 16, 208, 216, and 237OCU), but only one of the five FAA sqns (809NAS). Little bit of bias there methinks, there were certainly enough aircraft to go round...

Sorry, trying to type fast again! Practice makes perfect... So, the question remains why none of the aircraft in the final flypast were painted to represent 700B, 736, 800, 801, 0r 803 Naval Air sqns. If I have missed any, please feel free to add to the list.

Nearly right:rolleyes: Actually Formed up as 700Z:ok: Re the colour They would have had to acquire some MK1s for the flypast:D Colour would have been All white, Two tone Blue/white, and all Blue:)

Who is legendary Wg Cdr Alan Winkles?
Why is he legendary?

Captain Eric 'Winkle' Brown of the Royal Navy is legendary but your Wg Cdr is a new one on me.

Quite correct. 700Z was the Buccaneer S1 ITU, whilst 700B was the S2 ITU. Disbanded in the meantime so count as two separate sqns. No S1s flying after 1970 I believe so no chance of them joining the flypast in 94.
