According to him, the restructuring of the parastatals was part of the government’s plan to reposition them for better service delivery and performance.
He said that while 11 directors were sacked some were redeployed to other agencies for optimal performance.
According to the statement, Sanusi, has been replaced by Alhaji Ibrahim Auyo from Jigawa state.

A senior official from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency who revealed the state of the radars in Lagos to our correspondent on Thursday said the equipment went bad again shortly after it was repaired about four weeks ago.
The President, National Association of Air Traffic Engineers, Mr. Isaac Orishaleye, who confirmed the situation, disclosed that the radar at the Abuja airport broke down about two weeks ago.
The Lagos radar went down in April 2008 until it was repaired in January this year.

Well, Capt Ado, had to work within a structure that has been in place, and you wonder, that the intent for change is it real, or just a paper statement.
Holding over the LAG, at FL160,appears to be an acceptable manner of traffic manangement, by the system, which i can assure you,in certain circles is not a consideration for change.
Its the same old story......... when will it happen ? The real :=

When Captain Ado Sanusi, the sacked Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), was appointed, December last year, some stakeholders in the industry dismissed his coming with a wave of the hand. They had seen him as a square peg in a round hole.
The reason, according to them, was that as a pilot, he had never worked at a managerial level, insisting that it would be a marvel to see him successfully navigate the murky waters of high-level boardroom politics associated with the sector.

Though used to aviation services as a pilot, a cross section of aviation experts still felt he should have been left at the cockpit in the belief that managing a parastatal and piloting an aircraft are two different endeavours with different demands and challenges.
However, other schools of thought have a belief that the coming in of Sanusi as NAMA boss was an indication that the future of the agency was bright as things would be done differently at the aviation authority.
Incidentally, those who criticised his coming seem to have been vindicated as the man received the boot recently as announced by the Minister of Aviation, Babatunde Omotoba in Abuja. He was instantly replaced by Ibrahim Auyo from Jigawa State.
Omotoba had posited that the action was taken in order to reposition the body and other agencies in the aviation sector for better service delivery and performance, a statement that has been attributed to almost every new administration, especially in the aviation industry.
This, no doubt may have informed the position taken by General Secretary of the National Union of Air Traffic Employees (NUATE), Gideon Ogbuji, while reacting to the purge in NAMA when he described the exercise as "the usual phenomenon" with the position that any Managing Director who had stayed for over one year should be ready to leave at any time.
"It is a normal thing in this country". But I think we should make it clear at this point that it is not enough to only sack people, but those who are doing the sacking should ensure that every revenue set aside for the aviation and other sector attached to it be judiciously expended.
"Every form of corrupt tendendencies should also be done away with so that the sector can attain the height expected of it."
He advised those who had been appointed not to rejoice too much, since the wasp which stung others could also sting them, even with more disastrous consequences. "They should do everything possible within their powers to make sure that the industry does not collapse in their care. They should shun all forms of corrupt practices and bring out the best in them", Ogbuji maintained.
Sanusi was seen to have come at a time NAMA lost track and had pledged to introduce modern elements and reforms that would reposition agency into an efficient Air Navigation Service Provider. He trained and qualified as a Pilot, and started his flying career with kabo Air, one of the foremost indigenous airlines in the 80s and 90s.
He flew several aircraft among which included medium light BAC 1-11 and Boeing 727. As a Pilot with Kabo, Sanusi had the opportunity of learning and knowing the issues around Aviation sector in Nigeria.
Besides his qualification as a Pilot he is an Aircraft Licensed Dispatcher and also qualified as a Certified Flight and Ground Instructor; all these, according to his admirers made Sanusi to be seen as a highly qualified pilot.

It is a sad day for aviation in Nigeria. Capt. Ado tried his best and just as his hard work and strategic planning was beginning to materialize he is removed. Can we ever move forward?
