Hi

Just wondering if the quick access recorders have a threshold on overspeeds so eg. if flap or gear was exceeded by eg.1-5kt would this be detected by the quick access recorder or not?

P.S. Not saying our crew did exceed more just out of interest :-)

Two ways to look at this:
1. If a warning is generated in the flight deck (e.g. ECAM or CAS message) then yes, the QAR / FDR will probably record the fact that that warning was generated. If there is no specific warning generated then it cannot be recorded.
2. Flap position, landing gear position and airspeed are all recorded as individual parameters and if a flap or gear overspeed occurred or is suspected then the evidence is there if somebody wants to look at the traces / playback and correlate the evidence.

QAR will be recording parameters such as speed all the time, the overspeed warnings tend to have a little bit of a tolerance on them . The majority of crew reports i've been involved in when logged sheepishly by the crew have only been momentary and have not required any inspections.
