Hello I´m looking some information about Copa and if they will hire new pilots during 2009. They got a new 737NG last week and somebody told me that they will get two more NG during the rest of the year, I think that if this is true they will need new pilots?
Does anybody know something about this information?

Thanks

As far as I know, my source being a COPA pilot recruiter, they are not planning on hiring during 2009. We were scheduled to interview in January, but it was canceled. They told us it was just for the hiring pool anyway, they are not planning on hiring new pilots. However I also personally know some CAPs who were in COPA and resigned in the last couple of months, I also know some who didn't pass their checkrides and gor fired. It seems to be too early in the year for them to be sure they won't need new pilots, but who knows. I do not know how they hire FOs. I've heard only Panamanians, and I've also heard that only from their "cadet" program with some flight school and nationality doesn't matter. I believe Captains can be from just about anywhere.

Immigrant, do you know how many and about how old the captains at Copa are? Are there a lot of senior FOs? I walked thru the MIA H terminal the other day and saw a COPA captain, I can honestly say he was well over 50, I would dare to say over 60. How many total pilots?:ok:

Overall, I think COPA is a pretty young airline, pilot-wise. One of the Captains who left from my airline to the left seat of the E190 is in his early 30's. Others that I know are in their mid 40's (some for the E190 others for the 737). I hear their FO's have very little flight time, so I'm guessing most are pretty young.

For now it 2,5-3 years for thous who joined with sufficient time, as a locals short on total time. :ok:

min Req:

Total 4000 hr,
On equipment 1000 hr.

But if you short on hr. keep in mind, there are 260 FO's ahead of you and in average it is 20 Ubgr. in a year....... :bored:

Does anyone know if they have hired non-Spanish speaking expats in the past?
Thanks in advance.
