Hello chaps,

Just wondering if anyone has any bright ideas about where I can find a good aviation library/archive. I'm a history student, PPL, aspiring professional pilot and aviation enthusiast, so it makes good sense that I do my dissertation on air travel. Haven't narrowed the topic down yet, largely as I haven't unearthed much material. Been down to the nearby National Railway Museum library, which oddly enough hasn't been too much help...

Thanks,

Proctor

How about Cranfield University (http://www.cranfield.ac.uk)? The Dept of Air Transport (http://www.cranfield.ac.uk/soe/departments/airtransport/index.jsp) there should be able to help, and the university library has a pretty good archive of the industry journals and magazines.

Have you tried just down the road from you at Elvington?

Its been a few years since I have been there, but they might have some inspirations for you.

Yorkshire Air Museum (http://www.yorkshireairmuseum.co.uk/)

Good luck

Cranfield looks like a brilliant idea. Thanks for the link, Cyrano. As for Elvington; from what I can recall it's pretty military-focused. However, 'tis but a short bike ride away, so I shall probably head down there and have a look. Cheers Trevor.
