4. Photo Gallery: Mike Spack RCAF (http://www.mts.net/~mspack/rcaf4pic.html) if you scroll down to the crew climbing in you will notice the camouflage extends on the B.16 down the cowlings, nose and fuselage . This was only on Percival built machines in the PF...serial range. I can only presume that this was for greater protection on daylight raids over Germany from December 1944. The Lancaster Specials of 617 Squadron had a similar camou scheme.

I have not seen this in any side colour views of Mosquitoes apart from a mention in Ian Thirsk's excellent "DH Mosquito Vol 2".

Why was Percivals contracted to paint this scheme ? and is there a pattern drawing ? as it does not conform to standard DH Mosquito pattern. Any help/drawings gratefully received.

T-21,

You could try the Forum at the excellent Mosquito Page at:

The de Havilland Mosquito Page (http://www.mossie.org/Mosquito.html)

if you've not already done so.

This question intrigued me so I had a look at my Mossie books. The Sharp/Bowyer 'Mosquito' diagrams of paint schemes don't show this at all BUT - there is a photo ( Photo 58) of Canadian-built Mk 21 KA102 with camouflage well down the nacelles (can't see the nose) but, of course, that was an FB, not a B....!

Thanks Deepest South for helping,it is strange that it has not been picked up earlier . Is there any Mossie or Percival experts or from the Mosquito museum that can help ?
