King air off runway

Man currently on single runway ops due to a king air going off runway 23r.
23L is currently being used for arrivals and depts causing some delays and one divert away to bhx.

Is the shoulder part of the usable runway then ivor? Am sick of people on here picking at things and spellings. Think i will go use a better forum.

In defence of ivor, the runway shoulder is most certainly part of the runway and a broken aeroplane sitting on it constitutes an obstruction. The shoulder may not be fully load bearing but it's there for a reason - so it is used. A used part of the runway = part of the usable runway as far as I can tell.

I guess the reason that some using PPRuNe will be specific and pedantic is because it is (or used to be) a forum for professionals and professional debate.

Your intial posting would suggest to me and maybe other readers that the acft had gone off the rwy suggesting an accident. The rwy hard shoulder is still classed as part of the runway and I cannot give a landing clearance and therefore the runway is closed.
May I suggest a little less poetic license with the title of your postings.

Steve - I agree with your sentiments; I rarely post on this site but everytime I do, there is always somebody waiting to 'pounce' on every word that is written.
They are probably the types who are career-obsessed, live to work and the ones to avoid like the plague at social gatherings. In my 20 year experience, aviation professionals seem particularly prone to this condition.

and looking at the photos, so close to a turn-off point. I take it the steering would have been really heavy to turn havin a flat tire, if I know the King Air well!!
And what is the actual purpose for the shoulder of the runway? What states whether a runway has one or not? Cause I have only ever seen it at Man.
