Hi, Just wondered (probably a very silly question) is anyone aware of any grants etc available to assist with further training for a CPL(H) holder.:ugh:

Dont know of any grants, but you may be able to get a CDL (Career Development Loan)

You would have to look into it, but the school has to be a CDL approved provider or something. i.e. I beleive you can't just apply for the loan and then take the money where you like..... Has to go to a school approved by the CDL provider.

There are a few around, but you generally have to be 25 or younger. If you're female, there are a few more, but again for kiddies only.

If you're older, then apparently the assumption is that you can afford to pay your own way. Obviously, CDLs are not age-restricted.

I'd be interested to hear of any for under 25's....:ok: I mean actual grants not loans

When I trained.....I secured a CDL from Barclays, the previous poster is correct in saying that you have to go to an approved training provider, you have to fill in the form with them, to then submit it to the bank, I dont recall of any age restriction, as I was 27 at the time, the money then goes to the school to be held in a client deposit account, that the school must have!
the total amount available is £8k which isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things, considering i spent £50k.....
I would recomend while the job market is so pant's, raise some money by buy cheap houses from auctions and doing them up to sell for a small profit, after about two years you may have enough to complete your training debt free (somewhat)!!!!:ok:

There are also some Air League bursaries for youngsters. As Whirlygig says, spending a few hours with a search engine and making some phone calls reveal all sorts of opportunities.

A government CDL will give you a maximum of £8000 I think, might have changed since I last checked it out.
