Hi
I tok some photo's at Blackbush Airfield some time ago. They consisted of 5 + T28s, 3 JU 52s one of which was used in the film "Where Eagles Dare" and finally 4+ B25 that were to be/or had been used in the film Hanover Street, the T28s were for disposal/sale I believe.
Does anyone know WHAT YEAR (in the early 70s) this might have been.:confused:??

I would suggest that this was probably 1978 or 1979.

I took photos of them in 1979, and they had been there a while when I saw them.

If you are a film fan and want to see a very large collection of "Then" shots from the film and "Now" photos of the locations used, have a look here:

Sadly though there are only a few aircraft shots of JU-52's and Harvards at Austrian Aigen/Ennstal military airfield.
However, this site has details of the JU-52 used:

From Wiki
The film was a critical and commercial failure on its release, but has developed a following amongst aviation enthusiats due to the flying sequences.

The aerial sequences were mostly filmed at the by then-disused Bovingdon airfield using five North American B-25s Mitchell bombers flown over to England from USA specially for the filming.

"Where Eagles Dare" - I was thinking perhaps The Eagle has Landed, there is a background shot of a Ju-52 in that, but it's still a bit early, filmed in '76.

Most of those aircraft arrived in 1978, I remember seeing them during Farnborough week in '78 - the T-28s maybe slightly later? There were also some ex Spanish AF and Moroccan AF DC-3s present for while. Always an interesting airfield to vist, a sneak trip around the Arnold hangar with the various ex-Indian Spitfires in crates if I recall.

Any chance of posting your pics?

The T 28s were there a long time as they were classed as 'munitions of war' by HMG and Douggie wasn't allowed to touch them - he'd imported them without the correct paperwork.
