There will be a problem .... and that is the next step that expats in UAE have to be ready for.
The goverment will start imposing rules for the westeners leaving the country .. either for vacations or not, ...
!! present a letter from your employer !!
Not good news ... hopefuly it will not happen ...
Dubai ... a big Vegas without the tradition and the back of a Big country, lots of bright lights but no soul ...:} ... Islam sin City ???

A letter from your employer will be useless if they no longer exist .
A letter from your bank more like , saying they are happy with yr employment situation and ability to pay off the pile of dirhams you owe them.
Smacks of the old days in Kenya when you had to get Clearance from the Tax authorities to go on holiday even if you paid by PAYE!! After 5 days of nause , used to give up and head off to the coast , thereby saving shed loads of dosh which I could then give to the Tax man !!
