Where will it's home be for the next twelve months? I'm hoping it'll be Pittsburgh...:ok:

1st Feb 2009, 22:53
Odds are that it will be Pittsburgh, however, I'm rooting for Phoenix.

Last I heard the point spread was 6 1/2 Pittsburgh.

I'm rooting for Phoenix.
I would expect nothing less, I mean it's almost like far West Okie anyway...:}

Arizona Cardinals has still not sunk in...

But as that is my hope to be adopted state, that's my team for tonight.

1st Feb 2009, 23:18
Primary reason I like the Cardinals is Kurt Warner. I've been a fan of his since he was in St. Louis. I'll bet the owners of the St. Louis Rams are feeling real smart right now after firing Kurt for being 'too old and past it'.

Welcome back Brick, good to see here again. :ok:

1st Feb 2009, 23:18
Having watched the Cardinals get thumped by the Jets in my first ever live American football game (i.e. at the Stadium), last year, I'd have to say my thoughts would lean towards the Steelers.

On the other hand, I do like to root for the underdog.

Still undecided. Can I tell you in a few hours? ;)

Oooher, they have just honored the entire crew of US1549....

You guys have the best National Anthem bar none!:ok:

Well I'm ready...:}

Has Ben had a kick yet?

Howard Hughes
1st Feb 2009, 23:53
First punt 44 yards with a 6 yard return (net 38 yards), looked very nervous!:ooh:

For an Aussie, you sure know SEPPO football. :}

Howard Hughes

I'm a football fan of all codes, but the NFL is my fave!:ok:

PS: You wouldn't say that if you knew which team I follow...:E

By my calculation, at Hughes Point, it is 1030-ish on Monday!! My hero, take Super Bowl MONDAY off!! ;)

Howard Hughes
2nd Feb 2009, 00:23
Close, 11-30ish (daylight savings time), sadly I have to work at midnight tonight! Although I guess that's technically tomorrow...;)

Nice drive by the Cardinals, now we have a game!:ok:

2nd Feb 2009, 00:24
10-7 now, looking better. Got a ton of food here. Bunch of beer and more folks are showing up.

Is the party down below, or are you projecting the game on the mainsail? Did you get that airlift of Tsang Tao beer I sent?

2nd Feb 2009, 00:45
Watching the game from my satellite feeds to all the staterooms, both bars, the media room and the lounge.

Did you get that airlift of Tsang Tao beer I sent?

Yes thanks, drinking one now.

2nd Feb 2009, 00:52
Go Pittsburgh. A lot of truly great people have been connected with that team over the years. How many of you remember the Immaculate Reception? :D

Howard Hughes
2nd Feb 2009, 00:59
What an amazing final play, just when you thought it was gonna be 10-10 at the half...:ooh:

2nd Feb 2009, 01:26
That interception just before the half just may be the game breaker. The Cardinals are going to have to play the best second half in their life to pull this out.

That was a hell of a play.

Howard Hughes
2nd Feb 2009, 01:30
Nothing like watching a Linebacker trundle a hundred yards for a TD!:ok:

I think the Steelers defence will step up this half and make it very difficult for Arizona...

2nd Feb 2009, 01:53
I hope the Cardinals pick up their game.

Would be nice to see it neck and neck until the nail biting finish!

2nd Feb 2009, 02:06
Would be nice to see it neck and neck until the nail biting finish!

I agree, it is always best when the final play of the game is the game winner.

2nd Feb 2009, 02:26
Ok con, we may have our wish... here's hoping so! :ok: (20-14)

Howard Hughes
2nd Feb 2009, 02:27
Great drive by Arizona!:ok:

2nd Feb 2009, 02:31
Okay, now if the Cardinals' defence will stop getting stupid penalties and can stop Pittsburgh we have a game on our hands.

Cardinals are getting the ball back.

2nd Feb 2009, 02:38
Brave Steeler trying to take on the entire Cardinal team!

Nothing like Rugby for a good dust-up though :E

Go Cardinals!

Turn this into a game!

Howard Hughes
2nd Feb 2009, 02:47

Holy shite... Good coverage from the resulting kick though.

2nd Feb 2009, 02:47
A safety, wow, come on let's make it a game. Go Cardinals, last chance.

What odds a tie at full time?:E

2nd Feb 2009, 02:56
What odds a tie at full time?

I'd say pretty good. If we end up in overtime, I wonder how many cases of 'Super Bowl flu' will suddenly strike the male work force on the East Coast Monday morning?

Howard Hughes
2nd Feb 2009, 02:58
Do the Steelers go for it?:ooh:

2nd Feb 2009, 02:59
Oh bugger...

How does that saying go... "Be careful what you wish for, as you may just get it" ?

Don't know if I can handle the suspense! :}

2nd Feb 2009, 03:02
Well the fat lady is not singing, but she is tuning up. That was a touchdown.

2nd Feb 2009, 03:10
Well, she just sang her song, in her steely voice

Howard Hughes
2nd Feb 2009, 03:13
Great game!:ok:

2nd Feb 2009, 03:14
Well, it was a great game. Right down to the last five seconds. Loved it!

(But I still say that it was an incomplete foward pass, not a fumble, we were cheated!!!!!!. Naw, not really, but die-hard Cardinal fans have to be able to bitch about something. :p)

2nd Feb 2009, 03:16
Can't believe Holmes Touchdown. Arizona must be wondering what they had to do to win. Great game. worth staying up till 3am!

I agree, incomplete pass.

Just out of interest, When has the losing QB had a better rating than the winning one?

2nd Feb 2009, 03:17
Shades of Franco Harris!!:ok::ok:
Holmes has gotta be the MVP of that game.

2nd Feb 2009, 03:19
Well done Steelers and Fans!

4th Quarter was a blast.

I had a side bet I could smoke a cigar with the mrs with 6:53 left in the 4th quarter, another minute and I would have won!

2nd Feb 2009, 03:28
Holmes has gotta be the MVP of that game.

He is, but I really believe that Ben Rothlisenbugher (or however you spell his name) should have been, because of all the sacks he avoided. Man, he was nearly impossible to bring down in the back field. The Cardinal's defense had him trapped back there so many times and he still managed to find a receiver.

2nd Feb 2009, 03:40
Game started here at 3.30am, 7.10am finish,:{ luckily don't start work til 1420.:ok:

2nd Feb 2009, 04:28
Howard, Buster, is this the reason you were really watching? ;)

First Aussie in the Superbowl...

ABC Local - Graham passed fit for Super Bowl (http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/02/01/2479398.htm?site=local)

Um... lifting...
2nd Feb 2009, 05:37
Yes, but birrddog... he's an Aussie punter, which means something entirely different than it means around these parts...

The word punter may refer to:
A British, Australian and Hiberno (Irish) English colloquial term for a paying guest or customer, especially
a patron of a brothel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brothel)
a gambler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambler), particularly an amateur betting on horse racing or a player in the game of Baccarat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baccarat)
a beginner skier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skier) or snowboarder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowboarder), especially one with particularly bad style

Buster Hyman
2nd Feb 2009, 10:01
Probably a yes for me birddog, but I have been known to watch the odd game or two when televised here.

As for Howard, well, he doesn't have a life.:(
