The greatest thing ever found on the Internet in history. Well, if you like chocolate that is. ;)

CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

(Or beaker if you perfer.)

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well.
Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

That would be 60wt non-detergent oil. (You have to be an old round motor pilot to know what that was. ;))

However, I'll probably use just plain old vegetable oil, wot you get from the grocery store. :p

After rereading the recipe I think I'll add a dash of salt. Should be good.

Con, you are an evil genius. It is cooking now. Only two utencils to cook the whole thing. Wow!!

A dash?

Quick I need 'Cooking for Dummies Vol II', is that one 'pinch' or two?

One to start with. May not need it, but I've never seen a cake recipe that didn't call for a little salt, helps it rise.

I never thought about salt that way. Why not add some V1agra instead for a happy ending?

Okay, I made one last night and it was really good. I put the choclate chips on last, just on the top and didn't mix them into the batter. Worked out good.

Anybody else try it?

Dushan
30th Jan 2009, 22:45
Yes, made it as soon as I read your post. Smelled great while cooking, but I think I used too much flower. It was very dense and a bit dry.

Also the corners had some unmixed flower in them. Need to do a better mixing job.

On to version 1.1 tonight.

V1agra isn't bitter in the slightest[0]. You're not confusing it with Rohypnol (which is)?

Will try it on Sunday.

[0] If you need it, use a pill crusher and put it into 500ml of water well beforehand. Take what you think you need. You'd be surprised how you can stretch it out (ooh er).

That recipe kicks ass. I'd say it makes ass too. Who cares I'm making it tomorrow anyway.

Chocolate Mug Cake looks to have enough calories and cholesterol to just bring you to a point short of a heat attack. With the ice cream in the picture, probably takes you over the point. However, I have friends coming round tomorrow (well later today as it is already 01.45) so will try it out on them.

It does look rather tempting and to hell with the diet.

Thanks Con! It worked well. Used butter rather than oil. Added some orange juice concentrate, ginger and chipped dark chocolate. Served with double cream. Recipe now printed out and pinned to the kitchen pinboard!

Didn't get the mix quite right, mine needed a little more sugar although the consistency was perfect...:ok:

Anyway about this 'greatest thing ever found on the internet', you've never found PORN Con?:E

Yes, next time only a few stems instead of the whole bouquet.

I was thinking about using butter instead as well. So now I will.

Thanks! :ok:

Or, slightly cut back on the coco powder, it's pretty bitter.

Fun recipe, but I think I'll skip because I've always eaten the icing and left the cake.

Does anyone else eat Betty Crocker frosting right out of the can? :}

Well a big debt of gratitude to con-pilot for showing me the path to eternal enlightenment.
I found an even easier way of making it, I forwarded the link to Mrs Flowman and presto! 8 minutes later I had a belly full of chocolate cake, ice cream and cream. Superb! She normally makes a fine chocolate cake and I would consider myself a good judge of a fine gateau, I have to say this would stand comparison to the good ones.

It would be interesting to calculate the increase in fuel consumption attributable to all the ppruners who will be piling on the pounds over the next few months if this gets out.

Mods! Lock this thread!

Here's a little variation which will lift this recipe into the realms of heaven.

Mix 4 tablespoons of brown sugar with 1 tablespoon of cocoa and tip (dry) on top of the mixture that you have in the mug. Add about 1/2 cup of boiling water (don't mix it) to the top and then bung it in the microwave.

Decant the contents of the mug onto a plate when cooked and......hey presto - self saucing chocolate pudding!
