In the current issue of Air and Space Magazine (Smithsonian Institution) http://www.airspacemag.com/asm/mag/latest.html , there is a very interesting story, by Phil Scott, about an F18 and an F-16 available for sale here in the States.
The owner bought both aircraft, legally, after they had been scrapped by the military and sold by the Defence Reutilization and Marketing Board, the agency responsible for selling mil surplus!
The military is looking hard at the circumstances, but agree that the aircraft were procured legally and are the legal property of Ken Bryant, at Air Capital Warbirds.
The F/A-18, which revealed a Blue Angels paint scheme under the grey drab, is available for $15-17 million, the F-16 is a snip at $12-14 million.
Condition of sale is the buyer is a US citizen, and presumably retains the aircraft in the US!
